Ground Transportation at Poland Airports

Bottom Line: I found the cost of a private shuttle service to and from the airports to be much more expensive than a regular taxi or bus. Both Warsaw and Krakow airports are within 6-8 miles of their respective city centers. According to the very helpful Warsaw-Life and Cracow-Life city guides, taxis are the best option. If you grab one from the cue in front of the arrival halls, you will pay 30% more. Have a friendly local or someone at the tourist counter call one for you.

Warsaw: A regular taxi is the best option from the Warsaw airport to the City Center. It will probably cost $20, but has the advantages of speed, comfort and curb-to-curb service. There are also city buses. Warsaw airport is served by 2 city bus lines, routes 175 and 188, that go to the City Center. For our hotel, the Metropol, take bus #175 and get off at Centrum. The bus costs $1-$2. You can buy bus tickets at news stands or on the bus for a little extra. Taxis and buses can be found out on the street in front of the Arrival Halls.

Krakow: We will need transportation to the airport from Krakow City Center on the trip home as well. Private shuttle services were also much more expensive than a taxi or bus. Again, a taxi is the best option, but have the hotel call one for us rather than taking one standing in a que.
